Preparation Time: 10 mins | Cooking time: 25 mins
Serves: 4 cups
Rice flour – 1 cup
Gram flour – 1 & 1/2 tbsp
Roasted gram dal flour/ Chutney dal flour – 1 & 1/2 tbsp
Butter, softened – 2 tsp
Jeera/ sesame seeds – 1 tsp
Asafoetida – 2 generous pinches
Salt – As needed
Oil – To deep fry
- Powder the roasted gram dal coarsely in a mixer. Sieve rice flour, gram flour and grinded roasted gram dal flour. Add salt to it.
- Add jeera or sesame seeds and throw in some pinch of asafoetida. Mix all this together. Add melted butter to this.
3. Then add water to make a smooth dough. Slightly on tighter side. Not too tight, it should be easy enough to press. I used star shaped press. This only gives the butter murukku. Press the murukku in hot oil.
4. Deep fry murukkus until the oil bubble ceases. Butter murukku is ready to serve.
